Precautions for centrifuge use

Release Time: 2023-03-14

Currently, electric centrifuges are commonly used in laboratories. Electric centrifuges rotate at high speeds, so safety precautions must be taken. It is especially important to prevent the centrifuge from moving during operation due to imbalance or aging centrifuge tube cushions, causing it to fall off the experimental bench, or for the centrifuge tubes to break due to vibration because the lid is not closed, resulting in glass fragments being flung out and causing accidents. Therefore, the following operating procedures must be followed when using a centrifuge.

(1) The centrifuge must always be kept in a horizontal position. The voltage of the external power supply system must match, and a good grounding wire is required.

(2) Before starting, check that the rotor is securely installed and that no foreign objects have fallen into the centrifuge chamber.

(3) Samples should be pre-balanced. When using centrifuge tubes, the centrifuge tubes and samples should be balanced simultaneously.

(4) When centrifuging volatile or corrosive liquids, use capped centrifuge tubes and ensure that the liquid does not leak to prevent corrosion of the centrifuge chamber or accidents.

(5) When wiping the centrifuge chamber, do so gently to avoid damaging the temperature sensor inside the chamber.

(6) If the electric centrifuge makes noise or vibrates, immediately cut off the power and troubleshoot.

(7) Centrifuge tubes must be placed symmetrically in the sleeves to prevent the machine from vibrating. If there is only one sample tube, another tube should be filled with an equal amount of water.

(8) After separation, turn off the centrifuge first. Only after the centrifuge has stopped rotating can the centrifuge lid be opened and the sample removed. Do not use force to stop it.

(9) After each operation, record the usage and regularly inspect the machine's performance.

(10) If any abnormality is found during centrifugation, immediately turn off the power and contact relevant technical personnel for repair.
